Correct. Database version doesn’t support J5MAMP does not support MySQL 8, yet.
So you cannot install Joomla 5 in MAMP.
A new MAMP/MAMP Pro version (v7) was projected during the 2nd Qtr of this year but it hasn’t yet materialised.
